Reminds us of - White Nectarine & Toffee
Finca San Lorenzo // San Cristóbal Verapaz , Cobán, Guatemala
Washed Caturra & Catuaí // 1400 - 1500 masl
We’re excited to welcome back coffee from Luis “Wicho” Valdés III, marking our second purchase from this third-generation producer in Guatemala’s cloud-covered Cobán region. At Finca San Lorenzo, Wicho brings decades of experience and a thoughtful approach to farming that starts long before the cherries are picked.
Across San Lorenzo and its sister farm, Santa Isabel, his team works year-round to manage shade trees, monitor plant nutrition, and maintain terraces that protect the soil from Cobán’s persistent rain. During harvest, hundreds of workers from surrounding communities carefully select ripe cherries, which are processed at the Santa Isabel mill. In this humid, misty climate, drying takes particular care, with the team using patios, raised beds, and mechanical dryers to adapt to changing conditions.
We sourced this coffee through Los Volcanes Coffee, our main homies in Guatemala for the past five years. Their close collaboration with Wicho connects his work to ongoing quality feedback and specialty buyers like us. In turn, his farms serve as a regional base for Los Volcanes, helping share knowledge and support other producers throughout Cobán.
