Oscar Ivan Hoyos // El Aguacatal, San Agustin, Huila, Colombia
Fully washed Pink Bourbon // 1710 masl
Oscar Iván Hoyos was born in the bustling city of Cali, but his story truly begins when his family relocated to Huila and purchased a small farm named El Aguacatal in the coffee town of San Agustín. From an early age, Oscar grew up immersed in the rhythms of farm life, helping with planting, harvesting, and learning firsthand what it takes to care for coffee trees.
As he got older, the responsibilities grew to be more involved. By the time he reached high school, Oscar and his family faced a tough crossroads: should he continue his education or dedicate himself fully to working the farm? Together, they found a creative path forward. Oscar enrolled in an alternative weekend school program that allowed him to pursue his studies while continuing to support the farm during the week.
That decision speaks volumes about his determination and the deep connection he feels to both his family and their farm. Today, Oscar channels that same spirit into producing beautifully crafted coffees that reflect the lush terroir of San Agustín—bright, balanced, and full of character. This particular lot produced by Oscar showcases the sweet complexity of the Pink Bourbon varietal with juicy blood orange notes and a lingering red velvet cake finish.
It’s producers like Oscar who remind us why coffee is more than just a commodity. Every cup carries the story of hard work, family sacrifice, and resilience.
