Reminds us of - Cranberry & Lemon Verbena
Smallholder farmers // Nyamasasa CWS, Kalehe, South Kivu, DRC
Fully washed bourbon & jackson // 1800 - 2200 masl
This is our THIRD season buying from the Nyamasasa washing station, nestled in the Kalehe district of South Kivu in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Though small in size with just four full-time staff, Nyamasasa CWS plays a big role in its community, working with over 1,900 smallholder farmers who deliver their cherries to the station. There, it's processed with care into parchment before making its way to the Jumbo Safari dry mill in Goma. From there, it crosses into Rwanda and is exported by our longtime homies at Gihanga Coffee.
We’re excited to feature this lot not just for its vibrant, complex cup but for the social impact it represents. Gihanga’s direct relationship with Nyamasasa gives us real hope that, even amid the ongoing conflict in the region, we’ve been able to continue supporting the station and the network of smallholder producers it serves. This coffee is a reflection of resilience, community, and the strength of long-term relationships in action.
