Last harvest, we bought coffee from Oscar Ivan Hoyos. This season, we’re excited to share his coffee in a different form: Los Magnificos, a washed Gesha neighbor blend that brings together small lots from Oscar and five other producers in his community around San Agustín, Huila.
Gesha takes center stage in this release, with each producer contributing their own expression of this celebrated variety. Grown at 1,600–1,989 meters, these coffees are individually tasted, evaluated, and selected at the Monkaaba bodega before coming together as Los Magnificos.
The idea is simple: exceptional coffee deserves recognition, even when there isn’t much of it. Many of these producers farm small plots and deliver quantities too small to export on their own. Combining their coffees creates an opportunity to earn higher prices while keeping each producer’s name connected to their work. For us, it’s a chance to continue our connection with Oscar while getting to know more of the neighbors growing remarkable coffee alongside him.
