Luterio Paredes is part of a family deeply rooted in coffee production in northern Peru. Alongside his three brothers, Luterio continues a legacy built on shared knowledge, collaboration, and an ongoing pursuit of quality. His farm, located in the Cutervo region of Cajamarca, stands out for both its productivity and its cultivation of exceptional coffee varieties. The region’s unique microclimates, shaped by high elevation, volcanic soils, and dramatic temperature swings, slow the maturation of the coffee cherry, contributing to greater complexity and sweetness in the final cup.
Through sustainable farm management and a strong commitment to environmental stewardship, Luterio has built a thriving farm while continuing to push quality forward. His work is a clear reflection of the incredible potential emerging from this region of Peru.
We were introduced to Luterio through Cooperativa Agraria Aromas del Valle. Our relationship with the Aromas del Valle coop started in late 2024 through our blockchain traceability partners at Bext360. After tasting harvest samples and connecting directly with cooperative leaders Iván and Theilor, we quickly got to work building a supply chain to bring their coffees from Peru to Denver. This release marks our first season purchasing individual producer lots from Aromas del Valle, and we’re incredibly excited to begin showcasing coffees like Luterio’s through this growing relationship.
Aromas del Valle is made up of 618 coffee-growing families across the regions of Jaén, San Ignacio, and Cutervo. Beyond coffee quality, the cooperative supports producers through reforestation projects, processing education, sustainability initiatives, and expanded access to global specialty markets using tools like Bext360 for full supply chain transparency.
In the cup, expect everything we love about high-elevation Peruvian coffee: a full-bodied profile with layered notes of blackberry and rhubarb pastry. Sweet, comforting, and deeply approachable, this is the kind of coffee we keep reaching for day after day.
