This is our sixth year in a row purchasing coffee from our friends at Guji Jigesa, and this release shows exactly why we keep coming back. This dry-processed Ethiopian is vibrant and fruit-forward, with notes of fresh strawberries and vanilla and a juicy, candy like sweetness. We roasted it light to highlight its florals, fruit character, and silky texture in the cup.
The Jigesa washing station is located in the Shakisso district in the Guji zone of Ethiopia’s Southern Oromia State. Coffee is delivered daily by around 850 local smallholder farmers. Most families farm organically on small plots averaging 2 to 5 hectares at elevations between 1,800 and 1,950 meters above sea level. Coffee grows under the shade of Birbira, Wanza, and Acacia trees, which helps support slower cherry development and higher cup quality.
Jigesa is owned by Testi Coffee, a family owned company led by Mr. Faysel Yonis. Through their in house program, Project Direct, they invest in clean water access, education, and community projects that strengthen farming families and local infrastructure.
We return to Jigesa each year because the relationship and the results in the cup both matter. If you love expressive, fruit driven light roasts, this one delivers.
