TRANSPARENT BAGS FOR TRANSPARENT COFFEE -- For the SIXTH season, we've partnered with Catracha Coffee & Bext360 to bring amazing coffee from Santa Elena, Honduras directly to you through a blockchain-verified supply chain. You'll probably recognize Claudia & Juan as the OG producers on the platform (we've already sold out their coffee this season!); but, we're beyond excited to introduce another Santa Elena producer to you, Cristobal Vasquez!
Cristobal has a 4-acre farm in the community of La Tejera. In prior years, Cristobal sold his family's coffee in cherry to the local middleman. For the last few years, he has been working with Catracha Coffee. During this time, he has improved his farm management practices, using lime to control the pH of his soil, fertilizing with organic compost, and spraying organic fungicides to control levels of leaf rust. These actions have improved the health of his farm and the quality of his coffee production.
Cristobal has also learned to process his coffee using his own micro-mill so that he can depulp, ferment, wash and dry his coffee before delivering it to Catracha Coffee. After harvesting, selected ripe cherries are macerated overnight and depulped the next day, then fermented in a cement tank for 24 hours, washed, and placed on raised beds to dry over 15 days.
Between Cristobal, Catracha, Bext360, and QC, this project's partnerships have built a truly transparent supply chain with details down to daily cherry-picking dates, export-import logistics, payment contracts, etc. Just scan the QR code on the bag to see how Cristobal's coffee travels from his farm in Honduras to your cup. What's more, Cristobal will also receive the $1 per bag profit share that we've committed to with the blockchain project.
