The Osorio family of Samaria Coffee in Colombia recently introduced us to this community lot coffee from the Aponté Reserve. We've known Maricio, Maria, and Daniel Osorio for nearly seven years, having purchased other coffees from them in past seasons; however, this is our first time tasting their select lots from the Aponté Reserve located in Nariño.

Aponté is an indigenous reserve for the Inga people. They are direct descendants of the Inca and have been established in the Aponté region since the 18th century. Despite modern pressures, the Inga have maintained a vibrant and proud culture and have established themselves as one of the most prosperous indigenous communities in Colombia.

Samaria is the integrated exporter and importer of this coffee produced by a collection of smallholder Inga farmers, all of whom live on the Aponté Reserve. Grown at the high altitudes characteristic of the Nariño region, this lot displays bright notes of blackberry and the sweet, fresh vanilla -- a classic Colombian cup you're sure to love!
